Rozar Park, Perry, Georgia
Today, I’m experimenting with black and white photography. While doing a little research, three terms kept coming up: contrast, texture, and tone. The following pictures are my interpretation of these terms.
CONTRAST: In the picture of Oreo, below, her black fur stands out in stark contrast to the lighter colored wall.
Definitely have the contrast here with my sweet Oreo.
TONE: The subtle differences in shades of gray in a black and white photographic. Notice how the tone of the photo below adds to the nostalgic theme.
TEXTURE: Strong lines and patterns are made sharper by shooting your subject in black and white.
The texture of the wood grain on the boards of this barn show its age.
Next month, a lesson in FOCUS.
A couple weeks ago, I ran another 5K. This time I was on my own; my daughter had other plans. During the weeks building up to the event, I trained using the Couch to 5K (C25K) app for my smartphone and I was pleasantly surprised to earn 2nd place in my age group.
I also managed to stay on my feet the whole time… ahhh, progress!
I’ve been taking a few photography classes this month to improve my photography skills. I’ll be posting those here on the Photography page and at Georgia Adventures with Pauliana, along with stories about Unicoi State Park and the town of Helen, GA. I hope you’ll be interested in those. Here are a couple that might pique your interest.
The next 5K in the series is at Fort Yargo State Park in Winder, Georgia. These trail runs are great. I love being in the woods, climbing the hills and navigating the twists and turns. Since the last race, we’ve bought a season state park pass. We have camping equipment and plan to use it in the future,
I’ll keep you posted.
I took this on the afternoon Jake killed a snake in his pen out behind our house. He was so proud of himself he had to do a couple victory laps. I love this dog.
I was trying to add a poll to see what it was that people liked so much about this blog. When I joined the 2013 Blogathon, I just wanted to work on my research and writing skills. I never dreamed that people would actually start following me. I like it. I’d like to keep getting “likes” and “followers”. So check out the poll (when I figure out how to add it) and let me know the reason you decided to follow this blog.
